Sophie Reads: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts 1&2 by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany
Hello Everyone!
I hope you are all doing well! I have just been slacking on the blogging game and I apologize for that. But I will be back because I have a couple of ideas for different blog posts. But now I have another Sophie Reads and boy am I excited for this one.
Something you all should know about me is that I am obsessed with Harry Potter. When I was younger, I had trouble reading. For me, I had to get tutored in reading and I am forever thankful to my teacher who tutored me. One of the ways my mom got me to read and push myself was that she to paid me to read. My first book that she paid me to read was Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone by J.K. Rowling. That book changed my life and I am forever grateful for my mom for paying me $5 to read it. And that is where my love for Harry Potter came from!
But now onto the book review! Today, I will be reviewing for you the new Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts 1 & 2
Summary:
This Harry Potter script takes place nineteen years later from the last Harry Potter book. This is written in script form instead of an actual book because it was performed in London.
This script is mainly based on Albus Severus Potter, Harry Potter's son. Throughout Albus's time at Hogwarts, things begin to change. Harry is dealing with his past and Albus is dealing with the difficulty of being Harry's son. Throughout this script, the power of revenge, family, and power comes into play and changes the way how the world of magic will be forever.
My Thoughts:
As someone who was in theatre for a couple of years, I know how difficult it can be to read a script and truly get into the characters mindset. In a book, there is more description and it helps you truly get into that specific world. Saying that, I did not get into the first 20 pages. I was actually extremely disappointed. I just could not get into the mindset to truly enjoy the story. But as I kept reading on and pushing forward, I began to fall in love with the story. I began to get extremely attached again like I did before in the past books.
When I finished the script, I wanted to read more. I felt that I wanted to go back and reread all the other Harry Potter books. This script made me really fall back in love with reading again. There has been a lot going on in my life but this script and sitting down and reading it made me so happy that I realized why I love reading again.
My last thought is that if everyone who is a Harry Potter fan, you will love this script. There are some characters that you hated in the previous books that you will praise. I know....shocking. But trust me, you will, or at least I did. But overall, I highly recommend this script. If you have not read the other books, you would not understand anything that this script is talking about. One thing I am hoping is that this will be created into a movie. I would be oh so happy and I know millions of people would as well.
I hope you all enjoyed this blog post. I have truly missed writing and talking about things that I love and have been enjoying. I hope you all have a wonderful day or night wherever you are and I cannot wait to keep writing for you all!
Carpe Diem,
Sophia
