Movie Review: Fruitvale Station

Now I do not do many movie reviews because it is kind of hard because everyone has a specific type of movie they like to watch or specific actors they enjoy. But the moment I saw this film, I knew I had to tell all my blog lovers about this amazing movie.

Not many people have seen this movie or even heard of it and when I found that out I was really surprised.

Summary:
This movie is based on a true story. This man named Oscar Grant, 22, was killed December 31st 2008. He was killed by a white officer. Him and his friend were trying to come back from celebrating New Years Eve when he was shot. This movie takes place in the span of two days. It shows what he did the day before he died. Then it shows what happened and how the situation between his friends and the officers got out of hand and how he got shot. Then the after effects of him getting shot. He left behind a daughter and a girlfriend as well as friends and family.

My Opinion:
This movie was INCREDIBLE. This movie gave Oscar Grant a voice. Since the media portrayed him as a horrible drug dealer thug but in reality he was just trying to take care of his daughter and his girlfriend. He did not want to deal he was trying to get his life back in order. I think that Michael B. Jordan did an incredible job playing Oscar Grant. This movie had so much passion and showed that racism still exists. To be honest, I balled my eyes out. I watched this movie two times in the same day. This movie broke my heart because he did not deserve to die. He was just trying to take care of the situation and it got out of control.

Everyone should see this movie. If you are younger than 13 be aware that there is some mature content. But honestly this movie changed my life and I do not say that often. His death started riots throughout California because of how unexpected it was. Also, two weeks before they were going to shoot the movie, Trayvon Martin was killed. These situations still happen today and we need to figure out why and how to stop it. More people need to see this movie because it speaks the truth when the media does not.

This is the real Oscar Grant. Rest In Peace.

Carpe Diem,
Sophia

Book Review: Bones Never Lie by Kathy Reichs

Another book review!? Yes! Today I have another book review for you all and it is going to be a good one! So this novel was one of the galleys that my mom got for me at BEA. (Book Expo America) Just a warning is that this novel does not come out until September 23. But you can always pre-order it if you are interested. The novel is called  Bones Never Lie by Kathy Reichs .  Now I will give you a little background about why I read this book. When I was in 6th grade, my Biology teacher put on the show Bones for us to watch. And from that day to 10th grade, I wanted to be a forensic anthropologist. Now to this day I love forensics, I think it is super fascinating but I am just not good at biology. Anyways, the show Bones was based off of Kathy Reichs and her life as a forensic anthropologist. Now a forensic anthropologist is someone who studies human bones and  figures out what happened to that person. How they died, if they were murdered, did they have any health p...

Hello everyone! Now as you all can tell, I love the Battle of the series. The reason why is because I can review a bunch of products for you all in one blog post. Since it is summer and not many of you want to wear a ton of make up, I thought I would tell you my favorite BB creams. I also want to let you know that there might not be many blog posts in the month of July. The reason is because I am in college at the moment and I am super busy. I will try to put up as many as I can but I just want to let you all know! :) I hoped you all had a wonderful June! What is a BB cream?    Now BB stands for blemish balm. A BB cream is supposed to have a moisturizer, primer, concealer, skin treatment and foundation all in one. BB creams have been all the rage for a while now but not many people talk about them anymore.   NOW LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLE! Round 1: This is the  L'oreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream .
