Sophie Reads: Dark Places by Gillian Flynn

Hey Everyone!
I hope you are all doing well! Today, I have another exciting book review for you all! This Sophie Reads is Dark Places by Gillian Flynn. She is the author of Gone Girl which I have also read and I had mixed feelings about. But I have heard about this book for quite sometime and I was curious to see what it was about. Let me just say that this book is not a joyous book. It is extremely dark and it makes you think and question every little step that the main character, Libby Day makes.

Summary:
Libby Day was eight years old when her mother, and two sisters were brutally murdered. Her older brother, Ben Day was convicted of the brutal murders. Twenty-five years later, a club called the Kill Club has asked Libby Day to look back on the horrible tragedy.  The Kill Club believes Ben is innocent and someone else is the murderer. Libby goes on a suspenseful journey to find out the truth of that fateful night.

Overview:
Throughout this whole book, I was constantly feeling a sense of dread. This book was fast pace, intense and at the end, the reader would never expect what happens. Personally, I think I liked this book a little bit better than Gone Girl. The reason why is because it was a murder mystery. This book is not a book to read at night honestly, because it is so dark and morbid. But it is a pretty fast read because you want to know who is the killer? Was it Ben Day? Or someone else.
What I also enjoyed about this book was you never really knew what was going to happen. A different twist than Gone Girl and I think that is why I enjoyed Dark Places instead.

I hope you all have enjoyed this blog post of another Sophie Reads. I recommend this book if you are a fan of Gillian Flynn but also if you are a fan of a murder mystery. This will definitely keep you on your toes.

I hope you all have a wonderful day/night where ever you are. If you have any recommendations for books please comment! I would love to keep this series is going.

Carpe Diem,
Sophia

Beauty and Random Favorites for 2014!

Happy 2015 Everyone! I hope that the start of 2015 is going well for you all. I am super excited to be sharing my top 2014 products with you. At the end of the blog post, I will be sharing some random favorites as well. I hope you all enjoy! Face: I have two favorite foundations for 2014. The first one is a high end foundation and it is the  Tarte Amazonian Clay 12- Hour Full Coverage Foundation . I have the shade Medium-Tan Honey. This is my special occasion foundation. Since it is pretty expensive ( $38) I do not want to use it every day. My favorite part of this foundation is how much it looks like skin on your face but it looks like a more flawless version of my skin. But I personally do not like the cake face look and I like the more natural look and this foundation gives it to me. The second foundation is from the drugstore and it is the  Loreal True Match Super-Blendable Make up . I am in the shade W3. I heard about this foundation all over YouTube but ...

Summer Foundation Routine 2015

Hi Everyone! I have been wanting to do this blog post for a couple of months now but I really wanted to test out the product and make sure that I really stand by my opinions. Everyone in the beauty community has been talking about the  L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte 24HR Foundation . I have been using my ride or die foundation, the L'Oreal True Match Foundation for years. So I was a little hesitant to try out a new foundation. Once I have found something I love, I don't like to stray away from it. I went to a couple of different places to figure out the best price for the foundation. This foundation can vary from $11 to $13, depending on where you go. I got mine at CVS because I had a coupon. I got my color in 107 Fresh Biege. I want to tell you two very important things about my skin. I have a yellow undertone to my skin and I have dry skin. Especially in my T zone area. So if you have a pink undertone, I do not recommend this foundation. Most of the ...

Must Have Nail Polish for Spring!

Hi everyone! I hope you all are doing well. Now that I have started talking about spring, I am so ready for it!  My last post  was about my favorite spring trends for 2014 and today I want to talk about nail polish! I love nail polish. It makes me so happy when I am writing notes and all of a sudden I look down and see my nails painted in a pretty color. It brightens my day! It's all about the small things in life. Essie's Play Date This color just screams spring to me. This is one of my all time favorite nail polishes and every time spring and summer comes around, this is the first nail polish I put on.  You're Such a Budapest This color is gorgeous. I do not personally own this color....yet! I will be getting it this spring because this is like a lavender/periwinkle purple. This color is a perfect color to transition color from winter to spring. Essie's Sand Tropez  This is another color that I don't own.....but I will. I honestly think ...
